A freewriting poem. This advent I am going to post something everyday. Here is a poem, I JUST penned in a 15min freewriting session… good night xxx
An empty wine glass,
Flashing fairy lights.
A busy diary,
Long, cosy, dark nights.
A burning fire,
A decorated tree.
An endless list,
Warm cups of tea.
Fluffy socks,
Hats and scarves.
Singing and dancing,
Nothing done in halves.
Dinners and drinks,
Sparkly clothes.
Magical stories,
That we already know.
Family and friends,
Children excited.
The countdown’s begun,
Festive cheer is ignited.
Decoration box is out,
The house gets some cheer.
But my heart is a little behind,
As this year you’re not here.
I hold your tie,
The one I got you years ago
That you wore every year,
Even when the batteries slowed.
And I’ll sing your song,
On Christmas Eve.
These days will feel strange,
But I’ll always believe.
In the Christmas magic,
The time to feel love.
It’s the first day of advent,
Here’s a toast, to you above x x

~ Rooting For You ~
I first sang this song after a student came to me having learnt it, she smashed it and I instantly became addicted to perfecting it myself. Turns out I never can , as it always brings up so much emotion. I started gigging it when I was pregnant singing to what was to come, then the ‘you’ became my Dad , then it became to myself…. It’s a powerful track and some proper vocal gymnastics going on. I love working on my technique and I just love singing it !!!! I’m not gutsy enough to do it fully Acapella yet… maybe one day. For now Betty gently sings along ❤️❤️ this is a video from the gig at @princesspavilionofficial when I supported @3daftmonkeys a couple of weeks ago , incredible , attentive audience x x x x

For those of you who remember me at the manor… you’ll know how much this leaving gift meant to me when I left the flat almost 7 years ago to live with Mr Gal ! I AM GUTTED ITS BROKEN 💔 Although , I must be honest that I’m surprised it lasted this long. So many drinks had since then in this glass, so many occasions, tears, laughter, celebrations, commiserations, reunions, parties, deep and meaningfuls 🥂 but nothing compared to the years there…. Omg manor days I love you forever and will always wear the 👑 best days x x
